R&D Program Engineer -- Advanced Solutions

Description:

Responsible for scoping and delivering large projects that involve multiple vendors and partners, driving project schedules from design to release, and managing the product launch. You will be expected to make appropriate tradeoffs to optimize time-to-market vs. functionality, clearly communicate goals, roles, responsibilities, and desired outcomes to cross-functional project teams. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to distill multiple options into a manageable list that can be easily digested and discussed. 

As this is a new organization this role will be responsible for establishing processes and procedures to be followed as the organization grows over time. 

Essential Duties: 

  • Participate/review. A significant part of the job involves defining the requirements for new products, researching the potential options to meet the requirements, then reviewing the vendors and partners delivered solutions to make sure they meet the specified requirements. 
  • Planning/coordinating. The majority of your time will be spent making sure vendors and partners are on schedule and communicating effectively. 
  • Visit customers, vendors, and partners.

Requirements:

Education: Bachelor's degree in a technical field; Engineering preferred. 

Experience Requirements:

  • Experience managing multiple technical projects either as a project manager or preferably as a product manager.
  • Experience writing test plans as well as being a hands-on tester.
  • At least 3 years of experience working as an individual contributor (hardware or software) on large project.
  • Hands on experience working in the physical world, this can be as a hobby (rebuilding cars, or building robots, or restoring furniture, etc.) or as part of your prior employment
  • Must be comfortable assembling a computer from components
  • Experience working with contract manufacturers is preferred.
  • Electronic component design experience preferred. 
  • Experience developing software and/or embedded firmware is a plus.
  • Experience in the construction or industrial equipment industry a plus
  • Experience using CAD software and interacting with CAD data a plus
  • Experience designing and building autonomous equipment or vehicles a plus
  • Experience using Geospatial data and/or software a plus

Working Conditions: Primarily office. Occasional travel to sites.
