The Sr. Engineer is a licensed Professional Engineer responsible for the engineering support of multiple profit centers within the Fluid Solutions Division. This position is dedicated to meeting the Fluid Solutions engineering needs of contractors, industrial and commercial companies, and in doing so, drives profitable engineering revenue for the Division and Company.  Relies on education, experience, and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

What you'll do:

  • For existing and new customer contractors, design dewatering systems, water/sewer bypass systems, mechanical flushing and purging systems, and other fluid control systems for various construction and infrastructure projects.  This position provides P.E. sealed/stamped engineering design plans and supporting calculations for customers throughout assigned locations.

  • Provide engineering consultation to sales representatives on projects;

  • Evaluate site conditions and design effective water fluid control systems that promote jobsite efficiency and practicality in the field;

  • Develop conceptual designs to assist the estimation and costing for the control systems according to the proposed design; 

  • Ensure engineering drawings and plans are accurate and meet applicable engineering design standards and project specifications;

  • Assess problems that arise during field operations and recommend corrective actions;

  • Provide plans in a timely manner to branches and customers to maintain customer revenue and positive relationships;

  • Obtain and/or maintain current NCEES record for the purpose of securing professional licenses in multiple states.  Maintain the engineering licenses required to service multi-state engineering needs.

  • Educate as necessary and provide engineering support to Fluid Solutions sales representatives to assist them with offerings to customers. Provide other engineering support to the region vice-president, district managers and branch managers as required. Take the required CPD hours for maintaining licenses

Requirements:

  • B. S. in mechanical, structural or civil engineering, or related engineering field and Professional Engineering (PE) designation

  • 5-10 years experience as a licensed engineer in mechanical engineering or civil engineering (water resources) environment

  • Familiarity with closed-loop, hydronic HVAC and geothermal systems.

  • Familiarity with AISC ASD or LRFD

  • Knowledge of basic structural engineering analysis and design standards

  • Familiarity with basic soil properties,  testing procedures, and interpretation of geotechnical data

  • Proficient in the OSHA Excavation Standard 1926 Subpart P. and related standards

  • Experience with Autocad, Mathcad, MS Office (Word and Excel)

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment

  • Effectively work with customers and sales reps to conceptually plan and negotiate shoring system designs

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
